Mumbai: Primeiras impressões
A India é o tipo de país que tem o poder de te encantar e te decepcionar no mesmo minuto. Além de ser capaz te trazer todos os tipos de sentimentos nas pessoas, dos mais alegres aos mais sensíveis. E essas foram as minhas primeiras impressões de Mumbai.
O Visto
Brasileiros precisam de visto para India mas apenas o visto de turismo na chegada, com duração de até 30 dias, que pode ser feito facilmente através do processo online para visto de turismo na chegada como eu já expliquei nesse post.
O Aeroporto Internacional de Mumbai
Já cheguei no aeroporto sendo surpreendida. Achei o aeroporto bem grande, moderno, organizado e limpo. Melhor do que muito aeroporto pela Europa. Sem dúvida o melhor aeroporto que eu já conheci na India. Tanto o interior do aeroporto, quanto as áreas ao redor do aeroporto eram muito bem organizadas e bonitas, com bastante árvores e muito verde.
O setor de controle de passaporte e do visto de turismo na entrada estava bem organizado, com bastante segurança e todo o processo foi bem rápido. Também não tive nenhum problema e nenhuma demora para receber as malas. Cheguei com um boa impressão dessa cidade, achando que seria melhor do que as outras cidades que eu já havia visitado na India.
Transporte para o hotel
Dessa vez utilizamos o serviço de motorista do nosso hotel. A corrida de cerca de 10 minutos até o nosso hotel custou 700 rúpias, um valor caro para um trajeto tão curto, mas uma taxa normal para os serviços oferecidos pelos hotéis e como o aeroporto internacional fica bem afastado do centro da cidade se contratassemos um motorista normal o valor sairia o mesmo ou talvez até mais caro devido ao longo trajeto que o motorista teria que fazer para chegar ao aeroporto.
Para quem vai chegar pelo aeroporto internacional de Mumbai vale mais a pena negociar na hora o preço com os taxistas que ficam na saída do aeroporto.
O Hotel
Ficamos no JW Marriot Sahar, não fica perto do centro mas como ficamos mais dias a trabalho do que a turismo, a melhor opção era ficar próximo ao lugar onde teríamos que ir mais vezes. Fica bem proximo ao aeroporto, é uma ótima opção para quem vai visitar Mumbai a trabalho, porém quem vai a turismo deve ficar no centro, pois o trânsito de Mumbai é muito complicado e demoramos muito tempo para percorrer pequenas distâncias.
O hotel é simplesmente maravilhoso, sem dúvida o melhor e mais chique hotel que eu já fiquei hospedada. Os quartos e todos os serviços eram impecáveis.
A culinária
Eu não me dei muito bem com a culinária indiana na minha primeira visita a India. Mas dessa vez eu não passei mal e posso garantir que o pão indiano, o Naan, é delicioso. Porém acabei, na maioria das vezes, comendo em restaurantes internacionais ou no restaurante do hotel, onde serviam pratos de diversos países.
A Cidade
Achei Mumbai uma cidade mais voltada para negócios e com certeza o mais marcante da cidade é o trânsito caótico. Não dá pra ir em muitos lugares no mesmo dia e se leva muito tempo para percorrer pequenas distâncias. Podemos encontrar com mais facilidade lojas e restaurantes internacionais mas em relação a parte cultural, Bangalore e Nova Deli possuem muito mais atrações e lugares turísticos, principalmente Nova Deli.
Os Locais
Na minha primeira vez na India eu não tive uma experiência muito boa com muitas pessoas que conheci por lá, porém dessa vez eu tive duas sensações diferentes em relação as pessoas. Primeiro, as pessoas de Mumbai parecem ser muito voltadas a negócios, o mais importante é ganhar dinheiro e vi muito mais pessoas querendo ganhar dinheiro em cima dos estrangeiros. Porém por outro lado vi como os indianos podem ser muito amáveis e generosos quando gostam de você e se tornam seus amigos, recebemos visitas de clientes que conhecemos em outras feiras e se tornaram nossos amigos, que vieram de outras cidades apenas para nos ver e foi muito bom poder ver esse carinho e cuidado deles com a gente.
O que eu achei
A cidade de Mumbai é um lugar realmente muito difícil de se viver e nada fácil de se visitar. Na minha primeira vez no País eu fui embora sem vontade de voltar tão cedo, na segunda vez eu fui embora com vontade de voltar mais vezes e de conhecer mais dessa cultura tão diferente. Dessa vez eu continuo querendo conhecer mais sobre a cultura indiana mas Mumbai não é um lugar que eu tenho vontade de voltar, porém é uma cidade que é muito importante para quem faz negócios com a India.
A India é um país com uma vida muito difícil, que ainda tem muito desrespeito com as mulheres e onde se deve tomar cuidado com algumas pessoas e com alguns lugares. Continuo achando que não é muito recomendável mulheres visitarem à India sozinhas ou levarem crianças pequenas, mas por outro lado tenho certeza que é um País que merece ser conhecido.

Mumbai: First impressions

India is the kind of country that has the power to enchant and let you down in the same minute. Besides being able to bring you all sorts of feelings, from the most cheerful the most sensitive. And these were my first impressions of Mumbai.
Visa
Brazilians and many other nationalities needs to get a visa to entry India but the tourist visa on arrival, lasting up to 30 days, can be easily done through the online process for tourist visa on arrival as I explained in this post.
Mumbai International Airport
I have arrived at the airport being surprised. I found the airport very large, modern, organized and clean. Better than many airport in Europe. Without doubt the best airport I’ve ever been in India. Both the interior of airport, as the areas around the airport were very well organized and beautiful, with plenty of trees and greenery.
The passport control and the tourist visa on arrival control was well organized, with enough security and the whole process was very quick. Also I had no problems and no delay to get the bags. I arrived with a good impression of this city, thinking it would be better than the other cities I had visited in India.
Transport to the hotel
This time we used our hotel chauffeur service. The drive to our hotel took about 10 minutes and cost 700 rupees. An expensive value for such a short trip, but a normal rate for the services offered by the hotels and as the international airport is far away from the city center to hire a normal driver (like we used before) would end up being the same value or maybe even more expensive due to the long path that the driver would have to do for getting to the airport.
For those who will reach the international airport in Mumbai you can negotiate the price with the taxi drivers that stay at the airport exit.
Hotel
We stayed at the hotel JW Marriot Sahar, it is not near the center but since we stayed more days working than sightseeing, so the best choice was to be near the place we should go more often. The hotel is very near the international airport and a great option if you are visiting Mumbai for business, but if you are going only for tourism is better to stay near the city center because Mumbai traffic is very complicated and you will take a lot of time to go through small distances.
The hotel was amazing, no doubt the best and most fancy hotel I’ve ever been. The room and all services were impeccable.
The cuisine
Me and Indian food didn’t got along so well during my first visit to India. But this time I did not have any stomach problem and I can assure that the Indian bread, called Naan, is delicious. But most of the time we ate in international restaurants or at our hotel restaurant that serve cuisines from all around the world.
The City
For me Mumbai is a city more business oriented and certainly the most striking of the city is the chaotic traffic. You can not visit many places on the same day and it takes a lot to travel small distances. We can find more easily international shops and restaurants. But for the cultural part, I think Bangalore and New Delhi have more attractions and tourist places, especially New Delhi.
Local people
During my first time in India I did not have such a good experience with some people I’ve met there, but this time I felt two different feelings about Indian people. First I felt that the people of Mumbai seemed to be very business oriented, the most important is to make money and I saw a lot of people trying to trick foreigners to get more money. But on the other hand I also as able to see how Indians can be very kind and generous when they like you and when they really become your friends, we receive visits from customers who we meet on other shows and that become our friends and who came from other cities just to see us. It was great to see this affection and the caring of them with us.
What I think about Bangalore?
Mumbai is a really hard place to live and also not easy to visit. During my first time in the country I left wishing not to return so soon, on the second time, I left wanting to come back more often and to get to know more about this different culture. This time I still want to find out more about Indian culture but Mumbai is not a place I feel like coming back, however it is a city that is important for anyone doing business in India.
It is a country with a difficult life, which still has so much disrespect to women and where you should be careful with some people and some places and I still think it’s not very recommendable women visiting India alone or to bring small children, but on the other hand I’m sure is a country that deserves to be visited.
